2005 Commencement Exercises Scheduled for Saturday, May 21

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 10, 2005

St Vladimir's Seminary 2005 commencement exercises will take place on Saturday, May 21. The day will begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m. presided by His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN, primate of the Orthodox Church in America and president of the seminary. Deacon Barnabas Powell, a member of the 2005 graduating class, will be ordained to the Holy Priesthood at this service. Immediately following the liturgy there will be a luncheon held for the seminary's Board of Trustees. The day will continue at 2:30 p.m. with a prayer service in the Three Hierarchs Chapel, after which all attendants will move to the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium, on the top floor of the Rangos Building, for the commencement ceremony at 3:00 p.m. An outdoor reception on the porch of the Germack Building will conclude the day's events.

The seminary looks forward to greeting Constantine Triantifilou, president of International Orthodox Christian Charities, who will be this year's commencement speaker. Mr Triantifilou has been with IOCC, a humanitarian aid agency of Orthodox Christians, since 1993, and has been a driving force behind its dynamic growth over the last twelve years. He manages all facets of the organization's relief and development programs, including its international headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, and thirteen field offices in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caucasus, the Balkans, and the Middle East.
