Representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church Visit SVS

The seminary was honored to receive a visit by a delegation of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church on Tuesday afternoon, March 29, 2005. The delegation consisted of: His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Zahum-Herzegovina, member of the Holy Synod of Bishops; His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan, Abbot of Decani Monastery and Vicar Bishop of Kosovo and Metohija; Rev. Hieromonk Irinej Dobrijevic, Consultant to the Holy Synod of Bishops on International and Interchurch Affairs; Dr Bogoljub Sijakovic, Pro-dean of the Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade; Mr Andrew Verich, Director of the Washington Office of the Serbian Unity Congress and local consultant; and Monk Ezekiel Stakic, Decani Brotherhood, Secretary. The delegation is currently in the New York City area attending meetings at the United Nations regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.

Fr Dobrijevic, an SVS alumnus of the class of '82, arranged this visit so that the delegation members could meet together and worship with members of the seminary community. Fr Dobrijevic will return in June as featured speaker and guest faculty for the seminary's annual summer institute.

Dean John Erickson, Fr Paul Lazor, and Dr Paul Meyendorff received the delegation and met with them for the afternoon before proceeding together to the seminary's chapel for evening Vespers.
