Crestwood, NY—St Vladimir's Seminary celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with a Hierachical Vigil on Monday, September 13, and a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, September 14. His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN (OCA) presided at these services, ordaining Dn Basil (Daryl) Biberdorf, a seminarian in his second year of the Master of Theology program, to the priesthood. Joshua Mosher, a seminarian completing his final year of the Master of Divinity program, was ordained to the diaconate. The entire seminary community wished the newly ordained and their families many years.
At the conclusion of the festal Divine Liturgy, Dean John Erickson announced the recipients of the Saint Basil the Great Award
for Academic Achievement for the 2003-2004 academic year. This award was established in 2003 by an anonymous benefactor who wished
to recognize and encourage students who have excelled in their studies at the seminary. It is awarded annually to the senior, the
middler, and the junior in the Master of Divinity program who has ranked the highest in academic achievement that year. Dean Erickson
presented the award to Justin Patterson from the middler class, and Joshua Lollar from the junior class. Richard Rene, the recipient
from the senior class, was presented his award at the commencement ceremony in May.
