Crestwood, NY—The Thirty-seventh Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America took place from July 25–30. This large-scale event, which attracted an estimated 2,000 participants, afforded representatives from St Vladimir’s Seminary the opportunity to exhibit SVS Press publications, as well as meet and greet with members of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
Orthodox schools, ministries, iconographers, publishers, and archdiocesan departments were among those who exhibited at the conference. Held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, the event was a short distance from seminary campus in Crestwood, New York. Mr Toru Takei, recent graduate of the seminary’s Master of Arts program and part-time staff member, processed book orders for the duration of the conference with help from Rev. Stephen Hrycyniak, director of marketing for SVS Press, and Ms Deborah Belonick, associate editor.
Other representatives from the seminary included Dn Jesse Greendyk, director of development, Mr Michael Kaufman, Capital Campaign director, and Ms Julia Wickes, communications officer. Ms Wickes also exhibited at the YAL (Young Adult League) conference held at the same location just prior to Clergy-Laity. Dean John Erickson, Rev Dr John Behr, professor of patristics, and Dn Greendyk attended the concluding banquet.
St Vladimir’s Seminary serves the Orthodox Church across all jurisdictions and is pleased to have been a part of a gathering so important to the life of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. For more information on 2004 Clergy-Laity Congress, visit www.goarch.org.
