Yonkers Mayor-elect Visits St Vladimir's Seminary Crestwood, NY— On Tuesday, December 2, St Vladimir's Seminary
received an important visit from Mayor-elect Phil Amicone of Yonkers.
His intent in visiting was to become better acquainted with the activities
and work of the seminary and the role of the Orthodox Church in the community.
He was accompanied on his visit by the V. Rev. Yaroslav Sudick, rector
of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church (OCA) in Yonkers, and the Rev. Richard
Baker of St Joseph's Seminary, Yonkers. Mayor-elect Amicone met with
Dean John Erickson and the senior administration of the seminary. He
was given a tour of the campus and apprised of the future plans for married
student housing. Afterward he ate lunch in the refectory with students.
Amicone, who was elected to the office of mayor on November 4, is the
first local political representative to make such a visit to the seminary. |
