Army Chaplain Recruiters Visit St Vladimir's Seminary

CRESTWOOD—On November 19, two army chaplain recruiters, accompanied by Orthodox priest and army chaplain Fr John Anderson, visited SVS in order to make themselves available to students who are interested in pursuing this vocation. After attending vespers in the Three Hierarchs' Chapel the three men had dinner with students in the refectory and later sat in the solarium where they were available for questions from seven to nine p.m. "We are looking for people who want to minister to soldiers and their families," said Fr John Anderson, an alumnus of SVS who is stationed in the Netherlands. Stressing the importance of this ministry, he continued, "For instance, there are currently no Orthodox priests in Iraq to minister to the Orthodox soldiers who are stationed there." SVS is pleased to foster visits such as these that can benefit both students and representatives of various ministries.
