FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE September 5, 2003 |
The fall semester of 2003 began on September 4, with the seminary welcoming
a large entering class of more than forty students. The seminary has a
current enrollment of 82 people: men and women, married and single, from
North America and abroad. Currently-enrolled international students hail
from Israel, Serbia, France, Japan, Romania, Canada, Latvia, and Armenia.
In great part thanks to the ongoing use of the Information Technology Grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., the seminary has made several upgrades in the area of technology over the summer months. All student residences, including dormitory rooms and married student housing, are now wired for high speed connections to the seminary network and Internet. Seminarians now have the capability to view course documents online, engage in online discussions with professors and fellow students, and to augment their research with information available through the Internet.
The Seminary Library has been outfitted with five Windows-based terminals. Patrons of the Library are now able to instantly search the library's catalogue of holdings as well as databases of theological journals as they peruse the collection.
Additionally, the Metropolitan Anthony Bashir Auditorium, where many
classes are held, has been outfitted with an LCD projector and screen for
computer assisted presentations, as well as screening VHS and DVD
video. Similar fittings are planned for several other classrooms.
