Orthodox Education Day, 1997

This year's Orthodox Education Day -- the seminary's annual open-house event for its friends and neighbors -- will be held October 6 and will focus on the theme: "Serving Christ in Our Neighbor: Reflections on Matthew 25."

Fr Thomas Hopko will give the keynote address.

The day will begin, as usual, at 9:30 AM with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Beatitude Metropolitan THEODOSIUS, president of SVS and primate of the Orthodox Church in America. There will also be a memorial service for departed friends of the seminary at 4:15 PM. The day will end with Vespers at 5:30 PM.

The program will also feature musical performances by several choirs. A variety of food, including pastries and other desserts, will be available. The SVS bookstore will offer a special discount throughout the day, and several church-related groups will have educational exhibits.

Meet the Authors: the SVS Faculty and other SVS Press authors will be available at various times throughout the day in the Bookstore Tent to sign books. Two authors of childrens books will also be doing book signing as noted below.
