Visiting the campus provides the best means to experience seminary life. Visits should be arranged while classes are in session so that prospective students can gain a "feel" for life at the seminary—spiritually, academically, and socially. Visits can be arranged by contacting the Students Affairs Administrator at aks@svots.edu during working hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. Overnight stays can be arranged with on-campus housing provided, given availability. There are no fees for housing or food during these visits.
Three-day "Open House" sessions occur once each semester and provide an extended on-campus stay for prospective students. For a schedule of upcoming Open House sessions, please write the Student Affairs Administrator.
If not attending an Open House, prospective students should plan their visits around the following dates:
Spring Semester 2005
January 22 - March 15; March 22 - April 2; April 19 - May 14
Fall Semester 2005
September 12 - November 22; and November 28 - December 9
Personal interviews with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs are requested of all applicants and are usually combined with a campus visit during which applicants have an opportunity to attend classes, attend chapel, and talk with students and faculty members. Arrangements for interviews are made with the Student Affairs Administrator. Alternative arrangements for interviews, usually with select seminary alumni, are possible for those living at great distances from the seminary. The seminary will arrange these off-campus interviews.
If you would like to speak to one or more of the faculty members during your visit, you are encouraged to e-mail them ahead of time. See the faculty pages on this website. |
